It cost $37,870.00 in 1996, which would be $56,227.46 in today's money. The sand leather is pleather, fuel economy is accurate and the 3-seires used to be a subcompact. What is your cars' sticker?

This is essentially mine, although sans the extra expense for the red leather. Bought it 6 months ago for just a touch more than half the original MSRP.

$56,227 in today's money! Holy crap! I thought these cars were cheaper back then!

Out of curiosity, I just configured a 56k car in BMW's Configurator:

I can't find my stickers, but ...

My 2009 Lancer Ralliart, MSRP: $26,690.00, which is $28,981.59 today.

My 2000 Civic LX, MSRP: $14,930, which is $20,197.72 today.

I'm seriously starting to question why my parents paid this much for a civic.

The modern equivalent comes out to 49k on the configurator.

And that gets you more features, but only a 4 cylinder.

So many features...

Stickered at 21,220 sans a few dealer extras, I paid 20,000ish. In today's money that would be the same, although I believe the MSRP has gone up for 2014. This was loaded except for the sunroof.

I don't have a window sticker, but my CJ3A was listed at $1,195 in 1949. My '02 330Ci is similar to the sticker shown, but not premium package and I have the HK audio with my sport package.

And still everyone is complaining that car keep getting more and more expensive ;)

The main reason is, we just have much more things to spend our money on, so we (want to) spend less for our cars...
(And part of the reason could be that wages didn't increase as much as inflation, thus increasing the 'real' cost for modern cars but I don't have any numbers to prove this point.)

I wonder how my 1996 self would react if I showed him (me?) this:
- Cameras? Holy shit this is SciFi! What's a iOS integration?
- *explains smartphones* , and with this you can sync it with the GPS data *explains GPS* and you can measure laptimes, g-forces and other stuff to improve your driving.
- Holy shit this is awesome, I want to go to the future!
- Yeah. And with improvements on direct injections and variable turbos you can make a very efficient 2.0 inline 4 that's as strong as the 2.8 inline six.
- Oh... Inline 4? Fuck this, I'm going to stay RIGHT HERE. Enjoy your gas prices!

I6 with 180ish hp, or I4 with 50 more horses and torques? I think I'd take the one which gets to 60 nearly a second quicker.

My sticker - 2013 FR-S Series 10

Kinja'd!!!

$28,670 in 2013 dollars....which would still be $28,670.

The only options were shit tires, and fog lights. Not a bad deal, though, buying an FR-S in New England as we were going into winter. I talked them down to $26,500 which made me feel better about the tires.

My 91 MB 300CE was $64k. That comes out to just under $110k today. Heck, even leaving out inflation, that's still more than the base price of a new E500 coupe.

I wish I had a window sticker :(

Previous owner said it was close to $50k brand new in 2002 (530i, auto, premium/cold weather/comfort package, sunshades, navigation, DSP stereo, phone prep, cd changer, etc).
